Can I turn a JPEG into WebP?

What quality is the WebP default?

80. That is the same default as JPEG. Compare on the slider before you drop it.

Is WebP smaller than JPEG?

Often, at a similar look. A JPEG that is already tight may only trim a little, like the 6.2 MB → 5.1 MB street sample.

Can I shrink a WebP that is already WebP?

Yes. If the re-encode is not smaller, the tool may keep the original WebP.

Does WebP strip EXIF when re-encoded?
